Hi everybody! I hope you are doing well. Today, I will talk about the process of creating an AI-integrated Teaching Material with my friend Sümeyye Altun. Enjoy :)
In our AI-integrated Teaching Material tailored for EFL high-school prep students, our main point centered on the vocabulary activities related to detective stories found in unit 12. Our approach aimed to integrate an element of enjoyment into the learning experience. Beginning with a pre-task, students collaborated in pairs to brainstorm vocabulary meanings, consulted dictionaries, and constructed sentences. They were then tasked with crafting short stories surrounding the assigned vocabulary.
The distinctive feature of our approach involved exploring ChatGPT for feedback during the target task, followed by post-task peer evaluations and self-reflection. This seamless integration of AI, particularly the cost-free accessibility of ChatGPT, proved to be a valuable asset. Despite encountering limitations with other non-free AI tools, this experience highlighted the potential of incorporating AI to not only enrich the learning process but also to make it both engaging and instructive for the students.
